Whisky

Whisky is a distilled alcoholic beverage made from fermented grain. Originating between the 13th and 15th centuries, different types of grains can be used to produce different types of whisky, such as barley, rye, wheat, and corn. Whisky is typically aged in wooden casks, most of which are made from North American white oak. Whisky is a spirit strictly regulated across the globe and comes in various grades and types, yet all share the typical, unifying characteristics of grain fermentation, distillation, and aging in wooden casks.
